Due to expansion and purchase of new equipment, a vacancy has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Inspector. The company are a highly regarded,  professional, and well established engineering company. Your role as Mechanical Inspector is to ensure the quality of manufactured and procured goods are in compliance with specification. You will be ensuring productivity in the  supply of equipment, spares and aftersales services. Actively support the manufacturing operation and ensure compliance with quality systems to ensure the provision of quality goods and services.

This is a permanent full-time position.  Location: Basingstoke.

Monday – Friday office hours with an early Friday finish.

Salary: Between £34,000 – £36,000 per year.

The role of Mechanical Inspector would suit someone who can work independently.  You will have exceptional attention to detail, are a decisive and communicative who thrives on working within a professional and down to earth environment. Ideally you will have worked within a mechanical engineering industry with an ONC or equivalent within mechanical or production engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing new systems and regimes to inspect and monitor the quality of incoming and outgoing goods
  • Carry routine inspection of manufactured parts (machined and fabricated parts and fabricated assemblies) from in-house production and sub-contract suppliers to confirm adherence to drawing/specification through inspection and measurement
  • Reject all materials, parts and machinery that fail to meet specification, maintaining appropriate records
  • Document inspection outcomes and maintain appropriate records
  • Monitor and report upon the quality of supplied materials and goods, and in-house production.
  • Contribute to the use of Non-Conformity Reporting
  • Resolve any quality issues  and recommend improvements
  • Manage calibration of measuring and monitoring equipment.

Essential skills and knowledge:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Prior experience using standard inspection equipment is essential.
  • Prior experience in using a Trimos intelligent height and Faro Arm is highly desirable, but training can be provided.
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings is essential.
  • NVQ/SVQ Level 3 / ONC/OND in Mechanical / Production Engineering
