We are a recruiting for an Assembly Technician on behalf of a design and build company who create high tech products for customers in the UK and globally. Based in Andover, they design and manufacture a range of timber and electrical and installations. They pride themselves on a vibrant, hardworking production culture where creativity meets hands-on manufacturing.

They are seeking an additional Assembly Technician to join their team. This varied role is ideal for individuals with strong technical acumen, even if you do not have direct industry experience. If you enjoy working with tools, can read technical drawings, or possess basic carpentry and electrical skills, this is an excellent opportunity to apply and develop your practical talents.

  • Reporting to: Department Team Lead and Operations Director
  • Location: Andover (On-site workshop)
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday (with an early Friday finish)

Role overview
As Assembly Technician you will be working with the production team. You will turn engineering drawings into reality, working with electrical circuits, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and basic woodwork. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to deepen your manufacturing skills in an exciting, high-growth industry. You will also be working both on-and off-site so will require flexibility to travel in the UK and occasionally overseas.

Assembly Technician Responsibilities

  • Interpret Specifications: Read and accurately follow basic diagrams, engineering drawings, and written procedures to build high-quality products.
  • Electrical & Mechanical Assembly: Assemble units, undertake basic electrical wiring, soldering, and PCBs, alongside basic woodwork and finishing tasks.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform regular work checks to ensure all finished products meet quality standards.
  • Defect Management: Identify product defects, complete necessary paperwork, and rework or repair assembled equipment based on engineering updates.
  • Workspace Management: Maintain a tidy, organized workstation and manage inventory levels of parts and products within your area.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Technical Aptitude: Proficient in using a variety of hand tools and able to distinguish between different manufacturing materials.
  • Industry Passion: Genuine enthusiasm and interest in engineering, workshop environments, and manufacturing.
  • Location: Must be based within a reliable, commutable distance of Andover.
  • Driving license
  • Soft Skills: A strong work ethic, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to adapt to different tasks across the production floor.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical soldering.
  • Basic woodwork skills, vinyl application, or decorative finishing experience.
