Field Service Technician | Winchester | Basingstoke | Ernest & Co Recruitment
We are recruiting for a Field Service Technician on behalf of a company who service and repair components for the engineering/electrical and mechanical industries. They are now seeking an additional Field Service Technician to join their fantastic team. This role will encompass frequent travel to various locations around the UK as well as being site based in their office near Micheldever (Hampshire).
You will have a practical mind-set and the ability to run diagnostics, repair and reconfiguration, with full training being provided on these products. You will also have strong communication skills and the confidence to demonstrate and train customers on how to use the equipment effectively.
Location: Near Micheldever, Hampshire (Between Basingstoke and Winchester)
Permanent position
Full time hours: Monday – Friday 08.45 – 5pm with an early finish on a Friday
Salary: up to £26,000 per year. Company car, mileage, expenses

Ideally you will have an A Level or equivalent in engineering/mechanics (or a similar field) and preferably recent experience as a service technician. Although we welcome applicants who do not have experience as a service technician, you must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of engineering/mechanical components through previous work experience.
Field Service Technician responsibilities:
- Ensuring instruments and equipment are prepared for customer use
- Travel around the UK (car, mileage, expenses included) to visit customers and provide product training
- Quality checking and preparation of new equipment
- Testing, commissioning, and configuration of new equipment to the specific customer and manufacturers requirements
- Liaising with customers to arrange suitable delivery date
- Documenting and managing device configuration processes
- Updating the service management system as appropriate with relevant repair updates
Field Service Technician essential skills and experience:
- Full UK clean driving licence
- Practical, hands-on approach
- An interest/experience or qualification within engineering/mechanical subjects.
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Team player with a helpful, positive, approach
- Pro-active approach to resolving problems
