Driver | Drivers Mate | Andover | Ernest & Co Recruitment
We are currently recruiting for a thriving company in Andover who are seeking a driver/drivers mate. This is a permanent position, Monday-Friday, full-time hours although part time hours will be considered.
Essentially you will have a full UK driving license held for a minimum of 3 years and ability to drive a 3.5 tonne vehicle (supplied). You will also be able to lift goods, have strong dexterity skills and are great at communicating with customers during deliveries.
The role of Driver/Drivers mate is a permanent position. Full time. Monday to Friday 08.30 – 4.30pm. (approx. 36 hours per week) OR if you seek part-time hours, 28 hours a week can be accommodated.
Salary with a range of between £26,000 up to £29,000 per year (the higher salary bracket is for an experienced driver with installation knowledge. There is also some opportunity for overtime.
As Driver/Drivers mate, you will be undertaking the following responsibilities:
- Driving different routes each day within a 50 mile radius of Andover
- Communicating face to face with customers
- Navigate to delivery locations, ensuring timely arrivals
- Perform checks on the vehicle before departure
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the vehicle and warehouse area
- Handle any customer queries or concerns professionally during deliveries
- Lifting of heavy goods
- Assisting with/undertaking basic installation of products
- Loading and unloading
- Preparing for next day deliveries on site
To be considered for the role, you will have:
- Full, clean UK driving licence (held for 3 years) and ability to drive a 3.5 tonne
- Experience operating vans or similar vehicles is a plus
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a warehouse environment is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely
- Ability to problem solve
- Basic electrical or mechanical knowledge (not essential as training provided)
- Strong dexterity skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to lift heavy goods
- A positive attitude towards teamwork and customer service is essential
- Good knowledge of Andover and local area
